Advanced Laser Lipolysis is a less invasive option to remove unwanted fatty deposits from the body and help contour the shape you desire. A qualified surgeon uses laser technology to ‘melt’ fat cells permanently and then extracts the excess fat from the body.
The intricate nature of Advanced Laser Lipolysis allows for the treatment of smaller areas where traditional liposuction may be less suitable, such as arms, chin/jowls, knees, ankles, flanks (love handles) – as well as being able to treat popular areas such as the abdomen, legs and buttocks.

Preparing for Laser Liposuction
During your surgical consultation your surgeon will discuss your desired results with you as well as what to expect before, during and after the procedure. The surgeon will also check your general health to make sure you’re suitable for surgery and give you a realistic idea of what Advanced Laser Lipolysis (Laser Lipo) may accomplish.
If you are a smoker, it is advised that you refrain from smoking two weeks prior to your procedure and two weeks after, as this will affect the healing process of the body. Doctors also warn patients that aspirin, some herbs, ibuprofen, and some prescription medications may lead to profuse bleeding during liposuction. They should not be taken during the two weeks before surgery.
Laser Liposuction is performed using local anaesthetic so no overnight stay or special arrangements are usually needed.
During the Laser Liposuction Procedure
Once the initial anaesthetic has been applied then the surgeon will proceed to make a tiny incision at the area and insert a fine, fibre-optic laser. The laser emits energy which breaks down the fat cells under the skin; this process is called ‘emulsification’. Once the targeted area has been emulsified the laser is removed and a thin cannula is introduced to extract the fat from the body. After the excess fat has been removed the laser is reinserted to encourage skin tightening and rejuvenation so that loose skin is not left behind and ensure that a great final result is achieved.
The length of the procedure depends on the number of areas that are to be treated in the one session, on average a patient is in and out of the clinic in less than three hours.
Following Laser Liposuction
Recovery from laser liposuction is quicker than traditional liposuction due to the use of smaller incisions and local anaesthetic, although, as this is a surgical procedure some swelling and bruising is to be expected. After the procedure the patient will be required to wear a compression garment 24 hours a day for the first 7 days and just during the daytime for the second week. Light exercise can be resumed after 2 weeks and gradually built up week by week as the patient feels more comfortable. Full results can be seen 6 weeks after the procedure to ensure ample time has passed for effective healing and for the swelling to dissipate.
